Nivedita is a girl studying in 1st Standard at Marenahalli Govt. Primary School.
Nivedita and her parents are from Bijapur. They shifted to Bangalore recently for the sake of their daughter who by birth was hard of hearing. Her father works as a security guard and mother works as a cook.
It so happened that 4 months back, volunteer Paranjyothi who teaches English in Marenahalli School was contacted by the class teacher of Nivedita to find out if YFS can help this child with a Hearing Aid. In no time, Paranjyothi informed the School HM Pushpamala to enquire if Education Department had any special scheme for distribution of Hearing equipment to differently abled school going children. The BEO [Block Education Officer] got sanctioned the hearing equipment costing Rs.5,000/- for Nivedita.
Now the question was to fix this for Nivedita’s ear for hearing purpose.
On enquiry by Paranjyothi, another volunteer Vyjayanthi suggested Dr Jayasheela ENT Specialist in Basaveswarnagar. Dr Jayasheela in turn informed that Audiometrist in Chord Road Hospital is known well and recommended to waive all the charges related to fixing hearing aid for Nivedita. So Volunteer Paranjyothi took Nivedita and her mother to Chord Road Hospital.
The most important and satisfying was the expression and bodily action of Nivedita, when she jumped and made action to all that she can hear sound. TRULY …… JOY OF HEARING
Nivedita is really progressing well, started pronouncing few Kannada words. Volunteer Paranjyothi is regularly in touch with Mother and School Teacher for her progress.
“For all this to happen , proud to say I volunteered.” shares Ms. Paranjyothi
