After completing her college, Archana Rajan moved to Bangalore with dreams in her eyes. While she was pursuing her career as well as dreams, a thought to volunteer popped up in her mind. She approached YFS and immediately joined it. When asked about her decision to choose YFS to extend her support to the society, it was her words, “YFS was the easiest platform to find and approach.’ YFS is popular among the youth with its accessible nature, wide network and varied alternative options to volunteer. But that alone is not sufficient, it needs like minded individuals and YFS found one such soul in Archana.
Not being familiar with the local language was a daunting task for her, but she nailed it very soon with the belief that help is universal and it knows no boundaries. She engaged herself with teaching spoken English and it certainly helped her being a non-native speaker with no knowledge of vernacular. The most rewarding part of her journey has been to see her efforts succeed. She aims to bring innovation in what she’s been doing at YFS and her plans are under progress.
Interaction with students divulged untold stories to her and she got to know the distress that they go through. She opines that the problem must be addressed at the root level to bring radical changes. It’s been two years since she joined YFS, but it never feels too long to be saturated to her.
