Corporate Volunteering Conclave – CVC 2018

The Corporate Volunteering Conclave organized by Youth for Seva on March 16th, 2018, was a unique event to bring to light the best practices of corporate employee engagement.

In a first of it’s kind event, corporate volunteer champions, executive champions, leaders from the development sector, CSR experts and policy makers were brought together under one roof to brainstorm and share ideas as part of this national symposium on sustaining communities through corporate engagement and volunteering.

The event saw 300+ delegates from various corners of India participate whole-heartedly and network with like-minded individuals. Shri Vinay Sahasrabudde, MP (Rajya Sabha), Honorary Director (Public Policy Research Institute) and Vice Chairperson (India Social Responsibility Network) stressed on the need to identify with the deprived sections for effective volunteering, and take CSR to relationship building, beyond funding.

Two panel discussions, one comprising of representatives from corporates leading employee engagement, and another comprising of NGOs utilizing the skills of corporate employees to their best, threw light on various ideas and initiatives, and challenges too. The corporate panel saw Shyam Penumaka (Entrepreneuer, ISB PGP-2004) chairing the discussion among Srikantan Moorthy (Executive Vice President and Head, Global Services, Infosys), Shannu Kaw (Director, Global Business Services, Cisco Systems), Archana Sahay (Head –CSR, Thomson Reuters India) and Tushar Juvekar (Head-CSR, KPIT Technologies Limited) discussing about the Ideas and Initiatives for Employee Engagement.

The NGO panel had Jagadeesh Maiya (Vice President Software Engineering, Optiv Cyber security India, Vice President – Youth for Seva) chairing the discussion of ‘Impact of Corporate Volunteer Engagement’ involving Capt Indraani Singh (Founder, Managing Trustee, Literacy India), Atul Nagras (Chairman, Seva Sahayog), Mahantesh GK (Founder Managing Trustee, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled), KS Ramanan (Chief Programme Officer, Dream A Dream) and Keerthishankar (Head – CSR Projects, Youth for Seva).

The conclave also saw the release of :

Corporate Volunteering Handbook: A tool to enable and enhance employee engagement in volunteering.

Awards in three categories, for Corporates, NGOs and individual employees spearheading volunteering, were also distributed during the event.

Shridhar Venkat, CEO, Akshaypatra delivered the valedictory keynote, calling for more participating in community service and experience the joy of giving.

All in all, the conclave marked the perfect culmination for the decennial celebrations of Youth for Seva, as we gear up to do more. Join us, as we reiterate our mission to inculcate a culture of volunteering, to build a sense of inclusion, promote sustainability and maximize impact.
